Including the creative and digital industries, the IT sector employs over 1 million people or 3.7 per cent of the country’s active population. It is predicted that as a knowledge-based economy in the UK becomes a reality, that nearly half of the UK’s GDP will come from this sector within the next decade.

Studying a level 3 computing qualification at Lincoln College can lead to many exciting entry level job opportunities including roles such as computer programmer, web developer, network administrator, app developer or computer technician or progressing to study a Computer Science degree here a Lincoln College or at a University. The level 3 program is delivered by a team of eight subject specialists who have an average of 12 years computer science teaching experience this is an important difference between us and most schools and sixth forms that normally only have one or possibly two teachers to teach the whole curriculum.

To be clear this is not a course for IT Users we don’t train you to use office products, accounts or photo editing software; you will study topics such as: computer hardware; securing computer systems; computer networking; IT technical support; computer programming; website production; E-Commerce; and communication and employability skills. The qualification you will be studying is a BTEC National and if you did not achieve a C grade in either English or maths while you were at school you will be enrolled here to complete the subject as part of your programme of study.
You will need 5 GCSE’s including English Language and Mathematics (minimum Grade C or equivalent). You will also be required to pass a skills test as-well as be screened in Maths and English. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
