Accounting Level 2 and 3 (AAT)

This course supports progression into accountancy settings as well whilst developing skills such as basic costing and accounts. You will study both Levels 2 and 3 within one academic year, providing you a ‘fast-track’ to employment. The skills taught can be used within the financial sector; allowing you to work in a range of companies. Successful completion of this course may allow you to progress onto the Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting or into employment, as an accountant.    During the course of the programme, you will study: 



LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING : Bookkeeping Transactions - Bookkeeping Controls - Work effectively in finance - Elements of Costing - Using Accounting Software. 



LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING: Advanced Bookkeeping - Final Accounts Preparation - Management Accounting:Costing - Indirect Tax - Ethics for Accountants - Spreadsheets for Accounting

You will need 5 GCSEs to include Mathematics and English Language (minimum grade 4/C). You are also required to provide a reference and undertake a diagnostic assessment.

It is also possible for direct entry onto the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting. If you have no bookkeeping qualifications you will be required to undertake an online accounting test to determine entry level.

All students will need to apply to the AAT to become a student member. Student membership is decided entirely by the AAT. Students who have certain criminal convictions may find that they are not accepted by the AAT as a student member.

All units are assessed by AAT computer based tests which are taken as students progress through the course.



Progression



On successful completion of the Level 2/3 AAT Fast Track, students may progress to the Level 4 Diploma in Accounting Preference for enrolment will be given to those students who have passed all of their examinations at the first attempt with good feedback. Those students who have not passed their examinations at the first attempt, but have passed the overall level, will be reviewed by the course progression board.
