An essential qualification which on successful completion will allow you register with the General Dental Council (GDC), a mandatory requirement for all Dental Nurses. The qualification focuses on direct chair-side work and support during a range of dental treatments.

It encompasses the underpinning ethics, professionalism, teamwork and communication required to work as a dental nurse. A vocational qualification that requires you to be working in a dental practice prior to starting the course.

Progression upon successful completion of the course can lead to specialist dental nursing roles, dental hygiene or therapy, dental technology, teaching dental nursing or dental practice management.
You must achieve a successful diagnostic assessment in English and Maths at Level 2 and be in employment for 30 hours a week in a dental practice. It is recommended that you have 3 months experience prior to starting the course.
Assessment is a combination of practical tasks, written assignments, oral discussions and online tests.
