If you wish to pursue a career in an exciting and diverse industry and are good with practical work and have an eye for detail, Painting & Decorating could be a great career for you. This course includes practical and theoretical elements of Painting & Decorating, providing you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to succeed.
During the course, you will study: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction; Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication; Preparing Surfaces for Decoration; Applying Paint Systems by Brush and roller to Complex Areas; Applying Standard Papers to Walls and Ceilings; Producing Specialist Finishes for Decorative Work’ Erecting and Dismantling Access Equipment and Working Platforms; Creating and Applying Colour.
Successful completion of the course can lead to full time employment within the construction industry or as a self-employed decorator, following the completion of a work based NVQ, or other options for further education.
You will need GCSE’s including English, Maths and Science (minimum Grade E - Grade D is preferred). You must also be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week.
Assessment is a combination of practical observations within the workplace and online written assignments.
