If you wish to pursue a career in an exciting and diverse industry and are good with practical work and have an eye for detail, bricklaying could be a great career for you. This course includes practical and theoretical elements of Bricklaying & Block Work, providing you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to succeed. During the course, you will study: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction; Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication; Building Solid Walling, Isolated and Attached Piers; Interpreting Working Drawings to Set Out Masonry Structures; Construct Cavity Walling Forming Masonry Structures. Successful completion of the course can lead to full time employment within the construction industry or as a self-employed builder, following the completion of a work based NVQ, or other options for further education.
You will need GCSE’s including English, Maths and Science (minimum Grade E - Grade D is preferred). You must also be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week.
Assessment is a combination of practical observations within the workplace and online written assignments.
