If you wish to pursue a career in an exciting and diverse industry and are good with practical work and have an eye for detail, Site Carpentry & Joinery could be a great career for you. This course includes practical and theoretical elements of Carpentry & Joinery, providing you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to succeed.
During the course, you will study: Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction; Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication; Carry out First Fix Flooring and Roofing; Carry out Fix Frames, Partitions and Stairs; Carry Out Second Fix Operations; Carry Out Carpentry Maintenance; Set Up and Operate Circular Saw.
Successful completion of the course can lead to full time employment within the construction industry or as a self-employed joiner, following the completion of a work based NVQ, or other options for further education such as a Advanced Apprenticeship.
You will need GCSE’s including English and Maths (minimum Grade D - Grade C is preferred). You must also be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week.
Assessment is a combination of practical observations within the workplace and online written assignments.
