Hooton Engineering Limited are looking to recruit two local dedicated Apprentice Engineers to join their well-established organisation based in Gainsborough. Forming part of the Made in Gainsborough apprenticeship programme, this apprenticeship is one of the first of its kind in the area. Following the first year of apprenticeship, the candidates will be working towards specialising in welding and fabrication.

The first year of the apprenticeship will be spent predominantly at Gainsborough College working towards a Level 2  Apprenticeship in Engineering.  During this time, you will also spend some of the working week and non-College days in Hooton Engineering Limited alongside your new team.  Upon successful completion of this, you will commence years 2 & 3 working towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline within the organisation itself, attending College on a day release basis.

  • Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
  • Developing an understanding of the principles of engineering
  • Developing skills in engineering such as welding and fabrication, design electrical, manufacturing and mechanical engineering
  • Becoming competent in the safe use of machinery
  • Developing an extensive awareness of health and safety requirements and understanding how these apply both in the workplace and in College
  • Developing continuous improvement methodology

Skills Required

Must have the following skills:

  • Have excellent manual dexterity
  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have sound IT skills
  • Be able to work flexibly
  • Be able meet and, where possible, exceed deadlines
  • Have excellent timekeeping abilities

Qualifications Required

Ideally, GCSEs at grade A/9 to C/4 in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications
