About the course:

With the UK industry turnover estimated at £4.7 billion in 2011, cleaning is one of the largest business sectors in the UK. It underpins many aspects of life today and is essential for the prevention of disease and spread of infection. People actively seek out clean, safe and comfortable environments, so having a highly skilled cleaning workforce is essential.

Course Content (Units):

1. Dealing with routine and non-routine waste

2. Health and safety for the cleaning and support services industry

3. Working with customers and others in the cleaning and support services industry

4. Infection control, RIDDOR and COSHH in cleaning settings

5. Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management

6. Cleaning of interiors and washrooms



This course is available in several learning styles:

• Paper based – complete workbooks and return to the college

• Flipbook – online PDF workbook

There are no formal entry requirements but this course is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in the service sector. This course is funded through the College’s Adult Education Budget. You must be 19 or older on the first day of the course, be living in the UK on the first day of your course, and have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for 3 years immediately before this.

Continued on line assessment throughout the course. You will be expected to complete and submit units on a regular basis.
