This programme is ideal if you require more advanced skills in Manual Metal Arc, Metal Arc Gas Shielded or Tungsten Arc Gas Shielded Welding. This qualification is process specific, so you can choose which process you intend to study.
Successful completion of the Certificate in Fabrication and Welding programme could lead to occupations such as: Welder; Fabricator; Plater; General Engineer; Engineering Repair and Construction or Armed Services Personnel. You may also progress to: ABC 165 Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Practice; Level 2, Level 3 Certificate and Level 3 Diploma or NVQ Levels 1, 2 and 3.
During this course, you will study a modular programme made up of five practical tasks for each welding process.
There are no formal academic entry requirements, however it is expected that you will have achieved a suitable welding qualification at Level 1. An ability to show that you are keen to develop practical workshop skills and can follow instructions is necessary.
Assessment is a through a combination of short oral examinations and practical assessments.
