This qualification is ideal for those who wish to pursue a career as a teaching assistant, supporting teachers in a classroom environment and ensuring that students are able to benefit from their lessons.
The course aims to give learners an understanding of supporting, safeguarding and developing children and young people through theoretical knowledge, as well as competence-based skills, which requires a 50-hour work placement to enable
learners to gather evidence. The placement can take place in a primary or secondary school with learners aged 4 to 16 years.
There are no formal entry requirements but this course is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career as a teaching assistant. The purpose of the qualifcation is to provide learners with the specialist knowledge and skills required for working as a teaching assistant within a primary, secondary, special or independent school or for those already working as a teaching assistant and are looking for a promotion. This course is funded through a 19+ Advanced Learner Loan, you must be 19 or older on the first day of the course, be living in the UK on the first day of your course, and have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for 3 years immediately before this.
Continued on line assessment throughout the course. You will be expected to complete and submit units on a regular basis. You will also require a 50-hour work placement.
