This certificate is suitable for childcare practitioners who are working or volunteering under the supervision of qualified staff with children up to age 5, in a day nursery or pre-school who undertake tasks associated with the industry.
There are no formal entry requirements however; candidates should also have good verbal communication skills, have the potential and opportunity to gain evidence for the qualification in the work place. Candidates require a minimum of 6 weeks in placement, ideally 12 weeks, before commencing on the course and will need to commit to working with children for at least 12 hours per week.
A variety of assessment methods are used, including direct observation; asking questions; examination of work products; witness testimonies; recognition of prior learning/experience; reflective accounts; simulation; professional discussion; assignments or written tests
