This is a two year programme that is designed to meet the requirements of today’s Building and Civil Engineering Technician and give the necessary skills and competencies to work effectively in an industrial situation. This qualification also forms part of the framework for the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship, along with the Construction Contracting Operations NVQ L3.
Successful completion of this course could lead to progression opportunities within Higher Education or into employment within the sector.
During this course, you will study: Mathematics; Construction and the Environment; Science and Materials; Construction Technology and Design; Health, Safety and Welfare; Surveying; Graphic Detailing; Structure Mechanics; Measuring Estimating and Tendering Processes; Building Technology; Planning Organisation and Control of Resources; Building Surveying; Construction in Civil Engineering; Setting Out Processes and Further Mathematics.
You will require a minimum of 4 GCSE Grade C or equivalent or above, to include Mathematics, English and a Science or a Level 2 in Construction alongside a GCSE Grace C or equivalent in Mathematics and English or an NVQ Level 2 in a relevant trade area. Other qualifications may be considered on an individual basis.
Assessment is through a combination of continuous written assessment and coursework.
