This diploma is a nationally recognised Technician qualification, suitable for those beginning a career in the Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering industry.
Successful completion of the Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme could enable you to progress onto associated Higher National programmes.
During the course, you will study one of the below options:
Electronic Engineering Option – For those involved in the design, use, operation, installation and maintenance of digital and analogue systems. This option covers a wide range of electronic principles, devices and applications, including fault diagnosis (subject to enrolment numbers).
Electrical Engineering Option – For those in the heavy electrical plant industry and/or the electrical services industry, dealing with the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of heavy electrical plant, services and supplies (subject to enrolment numbers).
Electrical & Electronic Engineering Option – For those involved in aspects of options 1 and 2.
Each subject has a credit value of 10 apart from the project, which is a double unit and a credit total of 12 is required for the award of the Diploma. All learners will study Mathematics as part of this programme.
You will require a minimum of 4 GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent, to include Mathematics, English and a Science. Other qualifications may be considered on an individual basis.
Assessment is a through a combination of written and practical assignments; phase tests and end tests.
