The is a two year programme that is intended for Mechanical Engineering Technicians employed in design, manufacturing, maintenance, energy supply industries, Royal Air Force, Regional Hospitals and Local Authorities.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to further develop your opportunities within the Mechanical Engineering sector, allowing progression into Higher Education.
During this programme, you will study eleven units, over a two year period:
Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace; Communications for Technicians; Mechanical Principles; Mathematics for Technicians; Properties and Applications of Engineering Materials and Engineering Drawing for Technicians
Project (Double unit); Further Mechanical Principles and Applications; Electrical and Electronic Principles.
You will also get to choose two of the following optional units: Principles and Applications of Thermodynamics; Computer Aided Draughting; Engineering Secondary and Finishing Processes and Computer Numerical Control of Machine Tools.
You will require a minimum of 4 GCSE Grade C or equivalent or above, to include Mathematics, English and a Science. Other qualifications may be considered on an individual basis.
Assessment is a through a combination of written assignments, timed assessments and course work.
