This course is for students who can play an instrument and want to develop the skills and confidence to perform as a solo artist and in a band. The course involves composing music, rehearsals, performing, recording and releasing tracks. Students will need to use their own instruments and accessories such as strings, drum sticks etc, (keyboards and drums will be supplied).
Students will explore a range of popular music styles and plan gigs. Successful completion could lead to level 3 Music performance and Production.
You will need 3 GCSE’s or a Level 1 qualification in an music related subject. You will be required to attend an audition, where you will be required to show your music ability. You are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The final project will be graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction. This will be your overall grade for the qualification. The Level 2 Diploma qualification is equivalent to 4 x GCSE at grade 4/C. You may be able to progress onto the level 3 Music course.
This course is free for students under 18.
