Computing is one of the most popular career choices within the UK, as of February 2014 the UK government identified that ICT sector was worth £58 billion. Including the creative and digital industries, the IT sector employs over 1 million people or 3.7 per cent of the country’s active population. It is predicted that as a knowledge-based economy in the UK becomes a reality, that nearly half of the UK’s GDP will come from this sector within the next decade.
Studying a level 3 computing qualification at Lincoln College can lead to many exciting entry level job opportunities including roles such as computer programmer, web developer, network administrator, app developer or computer technician or progressing to study a Computer Science degree here a Lincoln College or at a University. The level 3 program is delivered by a team of eight subject specialists who have an average of 12 years computer science teaching experience this is an important difference between us and most schools and sixth forms that normally only have one or possibly two teachers to teach the whole curriculum.
The Extended Diploma course is a Top-Up for students who complete the 90 Credit Diploma course at the college; you will study topics such as: computer hardware; securing computer systems; computer networking; IT technical support; computer programming; website production; E-Commerce; and communication and employability skills. The qualification you will be studying is a BTEC National Extended Diploma in IT.
The Extended Diploma is offered to those who achieve a minimum of the Pass-Pass grading on the 90-Credit Diploma, and show satisfactory commitment to the course during their 1st year of study.
Assessment is by written coursework.
