If you want to pursue a career in performing arts then this is the best way to start. This course will provide you with the experience and knowledge to develop a range of performance skills including acting, dancing and singing. You will gain practical experience in musical theatre, dance, classical theatre, modern drama, technical theatre and multi-media performance. You will take part in several performances during the year, keeping a reflective journal of your progress, attend workshops with visiting professional actors and learn from various trips to West End and touring professional shows. Upon successful completion you may seek employment within a range of Performing Arts occupations or progress onto Higher Education or Drama /Dance Schools. During this course, you will explore the following: learn lines, lyrics and choreography; rehearsal techniques and character development; theatre business; approaches to classical and contemporary performance; voice and movement techniques; audition techniques and solo and ensemble pieces. Certification is awarded by the prestigious UAL Awarding Body, widely regarded as the best university for the Creative Arts in Europe.
You will be based in our own dedicated performance space which has a 180 seater theatre, dressing rooms, dance studios, rehearsal rooms, MAC suite and technical theatre workshop.
You will need 5 GCSE’s preferably including English Language (minimum Grade 4) or equivalent qualifications. You will be required to attend an interview, where you have an audition. You are also required to provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
There is no exam. Coursework is all internally assessed through a combination of interim and formal assessments at the end of each project. The final project is graded pass, merit or distinction. The qualification is equivalent to achieving 3 A levels
