Our Furniture Making programme will provide you with the underpinning skills and knowledge to progress within Carpentry & Joinery. This programme will also offer you support, preparing you for the construction industry and working as a furniture maker.
Successful completion of this programme could allow you to progress onto our Level 3 Diploma in Cabinet Making or alternatively onto careers including: working within the construction industry and working as a furniture maker.
During the course, you will study: health and safety; timber technology; sustainability; furniture making by hand; attaching fittings; design; drawing and career planning.
You will need to have successfully completed a Level 1 Carpentry & Joinery programme or have appropriate knowledge of both theoretical and practical skills and will ideally have experience using both hand and power tools. You will also be required to have GCSE’s in Mathematics and English (minimum Grade D or equivalent). You will also be required to pass a trade test as-well as a literacy and numeracy test. You will be required to attend an interview and provide a reference (from an employer or recent school/college report).
Assessment is a combination of practical tests and written examinations.
