GCE A Level in Biology Level 3

A qualification in this subject can lead to Science career opportunities in many areas including Veterinary Science, Medicine, Biochemistry, Nursing, Environmental Science, Dietetics, Sports Science, Science journalism, Teaching, Nature Conservation, Microbiology, Equine Science, Agriculture, Physiotherapy and many others. Biology can be also be used successfully to support studies in areas such as Geography, Psychology PE, Chemistry and Sociology. This subject, in combination with other suitable qualifications, will allow entry into employment or into a wide range of Higher Education programmes and then on to postgraduate study and research work. Modules include: Development of Practical Skills in Biology – this module underpins the whole of the specification, and covers the practical skills that you will develop throughout the course; Foundations in Biology, which covers key biological concepts; Exchange and Transport; and Biodiversity, Evolution and Disease.

You will need 5 GCSEs (minimum grade 4/C or above); including Mathematics and English Language (minimum grade 5 or equivalent), Biology (minimum grade 6 or equivalent) or 6/6 in Combined Science.

Assessment is by written examination.
