History is a very popular and highly regarded subject; often studied alongside Arts and Social Science, English and Geography. It can provide you with knowledge of our society and its past, which is useful for many occupations, particularly Law. As History is founded on the study of people, it provides a useful background to our Western cultural tradition and a surer appreciation of the present. History is one of the most popular choices for scientists who are looking to add some variety to their A-Level programme. With a qualification in History, you can work in a wide range of jobs including Law, Business and Administration, the Police Service, the Armed Forces, Journalism and the Media, Teaching or roles in the Cultural Sector. Units include: Tudor England, Democracy and Nazism in Germany and independent research coursework.
You will need 5 GCSEs (minimum grade 4 or equivalent), to include Mathematics (minimum grade 4). English Language (minimum grade 5 or equivalent) and English Literature (minimum grade 5 or equivalent) or History (minimum grade 5 or equivalent).
Assessment is by written examination and coursework.
