Students' work on the course is assessed via a programme of continuous assessment. Assignments will vary in format and the mode of study will be through blended learning. This approach will include in-class activities and lectures, online and pre-recorded learning material along with independent study time to provide an integrated learning experience. Each successfully completed unit will be graded as a pass, merit or distinction. The course equips students with the knowledge, understanding and skills essential for successful performance in working life.

HNC - 2 years - 1 day per week
Course contact hours are typically comprised of:
4 hrs Theory sessions per week
1 hrs Tutorial per week
It is expected that part-time students complete between 3 and 6 hrs of additional independent study per week in order to be successful on this programme.
Whilst the sessions are delivered at College 1 day per week (or 1 afternoon and evening for part-time students) , it is expected that students will complete the online study, in addition to the independent study, outside of these times. Students should also make themselves available to complete work experience hours outside of these times. Many of the opportunities offered through the college will require commitment during evenings and weekends.
• GCE A and AS Levels with at least one subject at A Level.
• BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject
• Access to HE
• Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher.
For mature applicants some experience may be taken in lieu of A Levels / BTECs.
GCSE English – grade C or above
GCSE Maths – grade C or above
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
(Level 2 Functional skills is not taken as an equivalent)
• NARIC confirmed equivalent of 56 UCAS points
• IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Equivalent English language qualifications are acceptable for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 visa
There are typically 2-3 assessment tasks per module delivered. The assessment methods used throughout the programme include:
Presentations (group and individual)
Work experience placement

HNC qualifications are widely recognised in their own right and provide students with the skills required for employment in a range of associated professions.

Tuition fees will remain unchanged for the duration of a student’s continuous enrolment.

Additional compulsory course costs will be paid for using the Lincoln College Bursary / Vocational Credit scheme. The scheme allows students to access the remainder of the Vocational Credit (up to a maximum value of £500 / £250) for additional optional courses, workshops, professional memberships and resources. There is no cash alternative. Students who wish to access opportunities in excess of the Vocational Credit may do so at full cost to themselves. Details of payment dates will be provided prior to the course induction.
