This course is ideal for students wishing to work within the engineering industry. Students firstly study the HNC Engineering and the at the end of the first year, have the option to progress to the HND.
The HND is an seven unit qualification which involves studying two mandatory core subjects and a further five specialist subjects.
The units have been chosen to meet a broad range of local industry needs.
Assessments are mainly by assignment with some testing in the analytical subjects. The course provides high quality industry related training for those who wish to pursue a career in the engineering sector.

Study Details
You will study on the Lincoln College Campus for the full durations of the course.
HND Top Up - 1 year - 1 day per week
Whilst the sessions delivered at College will fall between Monday and Tuesday from 9am – 7pm, it is expected that students make themselves available to complete part-time sector specific work or work experience hours outside of these times. Many of the opportunities offered through the college will require commitment during evenings and weekends.
A minimum of 48 UCAS Tariff points from the following: GCE A and AS Levels in relevant subjects, with at least one subject at A Level BTEC National (Diploma or Extended Diploma) in a relevant subject Access to HE Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher with at least one subject at Advanced Higher For mature applicants some experience may be taken in lieu of A Levels / BTECs. Plus GCSE English – grade C/4 or above GCSE Maths – grade C/4 or above (Level 2 Functional skills is not taken as an equivalent) EU and International applicants NARIC confirmed equivalent of 48 UCAS points IELTS with an overall score of 6.0 and a minimum of 5.5 in each component. Equivalent English language qualifications are acceptable for applicants not requiring a Tier 4 visa
There are typically 3-4 assessment tasks per module delivered. The assessment methods used throughout the programme include: Practical assessments Timed assessments Coursework Written assessments The programme specification details the assessment strategy for each module.
HNC and HND qualifications are widely recognised in their own right and provide students with the skills required for employment in a range of associated professions. On successful completion of the course students can top up to degree level at another higher institution. The point of entry will depend on the chosen institution and the subjects studied and the grades achieved at HNC/D.

Additional compulsory course costs will be paid for using the Career Degree Bursary. The scheme allows students to access the remainder of the Bursary (up to a maximum value of £500 / £250) for additional optional courses, workshops, professional memberships and resources. There is no cash alternative. Students who wish to access opportunities in excess of the Career Degree Bursary may do so at full cost to themselves.
