If you want to pursue a career in the public services sector this is an excellent place to start. This 'new' Introductory Diploma is designed to engage learners in developing a range of skills and personal attributes in preparation for employment in the public services and the uniformed services recruitment criteria. It explores both theoretical and practical subjects and you will study the following topics: Being organised; Developing a personal progression plan; Working with others; Researching a topic; as well as specialised units from: Finding out about public services; Taking part in fitness testing; Carrying out security searches; Responding to an incident; Planning and navigating a route; Assisting members of the Public; Contributing to your community; Taking part in sport and adventurous activities. The Public Services sector has a wide variety of employment and voluntary opportunities which students could become involved with as part of this Study Programme.
Completion of Year 11 or equivalent; with achievement of some formal qualifications; along with evidence of a sustained interest and motivation in pursuing a career in the public services; and the ability to cope with a programme of physical activity. Satisfactory report regarding attendance, attitude to study and potential for development.
Assessment is a combination of internally-set coursework and practical assessments that might include case studies; role play scenarios; and practical demonstrations.
