This entry level programme is designed for school leavers and young people who need extra support with learning. It allows you to develop the required skills for a vocation within the Hospitality & Catering profession. You will achieve a greater sense of independence and self-confidence by building on skills and strengths. You will gain qualifications that help you to begin the journey for a career in the Hospitality & Catering profession. Upon completion of this programme you may progress onto either the Skills for Progression course, a level 1 programme or a Supported Internship, if appropriate. You may also be able to progress into employment within your chosen vocational area. Careers advice will be given throughout the course to help you make this decision. Study programmes – students follow an individualised programme of study, moving onto further learning, greater independence or work and adult life. All full-time programmes have the following strands of learning: • Vocational – practical skills in their chosen subject and area of learning interest • Functional Skills – English and Maths • Tutorials/Enrichment activities • Employability skills and personal development • Actual or simulated work experience in enterprise based activities.
You don’t need any formal qualifications to apply but it is advisable that you are working at entry level and show willingness to work and a desire to progress. You will undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment during the interview process, to determine the correct level of study.
Assessment is a combination of practical activities and collation of work in a portfolio.
