You will gain qualifications that help you to begin the journey for a career in the sports profession. You will also have the opportunity to compete in regular football and boccia tournaments against other colleges whilst having access to our outstanding indoor and outdoor sport facilities. Upon completion of this programme you may progress onto either the Skills for Progression course, a level 1 programme or a Supported Internship, if appropriate. You may also be able to progress into employment within your chosen vocational area. Careers advice will be given throughout the course to help you make this decision. During this course, you will study: sport; organising sports events; leading coaching sessions; preparation for work skills and personal development work. Study programmes – students follow an individualised programme of study, moving onto further learning, greater independence or work and adult life. All full-time programmes have the following strands of learning: • Vocational – practical skills in their chosen subject and area of learning interest • Functional Skills – English and Maths • Tutorials/Enrichment activities • Employability skills and personal development • Actual or simulated work experience in enterprise based activities.
You don’t need any formal qualifications to apply but it is advisable that you are working at entry level and show willingness to work and a desire to progress. You will undertake a literacy and numeracy assessment during the interview process, to determine the correct level of study.
Assessment is a combination of practical activities and collation of work in a portfolio.
