Learners from Lincoln College’s Air & Defence Career College braved the heat to cycle over 40 miles to raise money for the Appeal.
After planning and organising the bike ride from scratch as part of their studies, the students set off from the College at 9:30am on Tuesday 19th June, returning at around 3pm that afternoon.
Student, Paul Hayton said: “It was hard work but every moment was enjoyable.
“Knowing we were raising money for such a great cause made it all worthwhile.”
Air & Defence Lecturer, Richard Thornhill MBE said: “This type of challenge enables our students to experience what it’s like to organise, plan and deliver a complex event.
“They were tasked with forming a committee and appointing job roles and then deciding on what charity event they would undertake.
“When they had finalised their plans they presented this to a panel of senior industry representatives in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ format for final approval.
“This last task builds on their employability skills already developed during the year and will enable them to have a very confident and competent conversation at interview when asked questions around their leadership skills.”
