The Lincoln College Group hosted an event to officially present cheques to local charities as the College’s Pink Ribbon Campaign total reaches over £84,000.

College staff founded the Pink Ribbon initiative 13 years ago to raise money for Candles charity, following a staff member’s breast cancer diagnosis. Since then the campaign has grown to support many more local charities through a variety of fundraising activities including sponsored hikes and challenges and a regular staff lottery.

This year over £12,500 has been raised with cheques being presented to Candles for £5,000, Marie Curie for £2,000, Children’s Bereavement Centre for £1,000, British Polio Fellowship for £1,000, Macmillan Merry Macs for £1,000, Teenage Cancer Trust for £1,000, Museum of RAF Firefighting for £340, MS Therapy Centre for £500, St Barnabas Hospice for £500 and Beaumond House Community Hospice for £200.

Andy Ollier, Chair of the Lincolnshire MS Therapy Centre said: “The donation is very much appreciated and will really help us. Fundraising and donations help us to continue helping those with MS and other neurological conditions by providing a variety of treatments in a friendly atmosphere at the centre”.

Rachel Wilson, Fundraising Manager from the Children’s Bereavement Centre said: “We were delighted to receive such a large donation from the Pink Ribbon Fund, it will make a huge difference to us here at the Children’s Bereavement Centre.

The cost for eight sessions of one-to-one counselling support costs £200 so this donation could enable five children/young people to access the support they so desperately need at one of the most devastating times in their lives.”

If you would like to support any of these local charities you can find information on their websites or contact Sarah Adams at Lincoln College on 01522 876000.
