Continuing to teach through the crisis

April 14 2020

Zig Zag Underline

Lincoln College staff are continuing to teach courses and apprenticeships throughout the current national crisis.

Swoosh

Brothers Matthew, Luke and Harry Pettit, like all of our students are stuck at home – but they’re still working hard to complete their courses and apprenticeships.

Matthew is a Trainee Site Manager for RG Carter and is doing an apprenticeship in Construction Civil Engineering Management in the Built Environment.

Matthew is currently Furloughed under the Government support scheme and is busy working away on his classroom-based learning with the remote support of his tutors.

Luke is studying a full-time Level 2 bricklaying course at the College and is working online with his tutors to complete his theory work and maths and English studies.

And Harry, who works for Lindum as a Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice, is also currently Furloughed. He’s using his time to work with his assessors to make progress with his apprenticeship.

Before social distancing he was nine per cent complete and he has got that up to 24 per cent completion on his apprenticeship in just a couple of weeks.

The lads’ dad, Nick Pettit, said he was delighted with the efforts of college staff.

“I’ve been really impressed with the amount of support Lincoln College staff have offered, ” he said.

“It must be difficult for them to adapt too and they’re really going above and beyond.

“The assessors and tutors have been extremely responsive, providing support online and on the phone,”

You can still apply for courses at Lincoln College. Just visit our website and make an online application.
