A cohort of 22 senior educational professionals from Portugal, Italy, Netherlands and Spain visited the Lincoln campus to discuss international curriculum as part of the Schools for Success project.
From the Lincoln area, the group were joined by representatives from Branston Junior Academy and Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School, alongside Lincoln College staff.
The project, now in its final year, is focusing on curriculum levels and how best to work together to provide a European wide standard of education which does not disadvantage students travelling from one county to another.
During the visit the group heard how quality curriculum improves success rates in Further Education and were given an insight to the practical learning methods undertaken within the college which enables students to be employment-ready.
The guests were taken on a tour of the campus; including construction and engineering workshops, Higher Education study, library and Deans sports and leisure facilities. Also having the chance sample cuisine prepared by the catering students at the onsite Sessions Restaurant.
Richard Long, Head of Career Colleges, International Delivery and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) at Lincoln College said “building these relationships is invaluable to us as a college, our international students and those wanting to learn or work overseas.”
“Having this kind of input into curriculum along with our local partners can be hugely beneficial for everyone involved and we were thrilled to host the visit at Lincoln College.”
“Our guests showed much enthusiasm towards our employer-led colleges, such as Air and Defence and our recently launched Digital Academy and we are now looking into new student exchange programmes and possible business links in sectors we have not explored before in Portugal and the Netherlands.”
