Construction students from Lincoln College lend a hand to local charity Band of Builders on 'Sadie's Project'.
Two students from Lincoln College’s School of Construction have been helping out local charity Band of Builders, with the renovation and re-vamp of a family home, along with other local firms.
‘Sadie’s Project’ was set up to help two-year-old Sadie, who was born with a hole in her heart and suffers with various respiratory problems.
The project, which is centred around helping Sadie and her family, as well as improving the family’s life, was set up by local tradesman Addam Smith, who visited the College last month to talk to students.
Rhys Cooke, a joinery student and Tom Bradford, who studies plastering, along with Lincoln College Lecturer Paul Barnes have been assisting the group of tradesmen over the last week.
Paul said: “I’m so proud - what a fantastic demonstration of skill, development, motivation, confidence, hard work and dedication our two students have shown.
“Rhys and Tom represented the College with a high level of professionalism, working through snow and ice to get the job done.”
Band of Builders founder, Addam Smith said: “There’s no better way of introducing the next generation in to the industry.
“Working alongside experienced tradesmen to motivate and encourage them is great for the students’ development - and the experience they gain on site compared to in the classroom is second to none.”
You can find out more about Sadie’s Project by visiting the Band of Builders Facebook page.
