Level 3 Sport students from Newark College have been hard at work organising and managing the round-robin for nine local primary schools.
The event took place at Kelham Hall which provided a great open space for the children to run around in.
The students planned the day from start to finish with the support of Level 2 Sport students also from Newark College, as part of their ‘Event Organisation’ module.
From deciding on which sport they’d play to the marketing, promotions and invitations as well as finding and booking the perfect location for the event.
Student Bethany Green said: “This opportunity has allowed me to get valuable real-life experience.
"It’s really inspired me to look at furthering my education by doing a sports career degree at Lincoln College where I’ll be able explore events management further.”
Primary school pupil Luke said: “It’s been a really fun day, I’ve loved it!
“I like playing sport and it helps because I want to be in the army when I’m older.”
Sport lecturer Rachel Henderson said: “‘I’m really proud of the culmination of four months hard work by the students.
“Throughout the time they’ve developed a wide variety of personal and employment skills.
“Their team work also developed through their weekly meetings, managing the minutes and task deadlines, communicating with the schools and overcoming the challenges and problem solving that comes with planning an external competition.”
